Bonded Labour

Our work focuses on liberating individuals trapped in bonded labor—a complex system where
entire families for sometimes generations are held in a cycle of debt that is often impossible to
escape. These laborers face overwhelming challenges, including systemic corruption from local
police, exploitation by feudal lords, and abusive practices by brick kiln owners who perpetuate
their entrapment.
The conditions for these workers are harsh: extreme poverty, malnutrition, lack of access to
education, and inadequate medical care are daily realities. We are committed to breaking this
cycle of exploitation, advocating for their freedom, and working to ensure they receive the
support needed to rebuild their lives.
The major issues these workers encounter include:

  • Women laborers under debt often face sexual harassment, with some enduring
conditions akin to sexual slavery. Abuse can begin at a very young age, sometimes as
    early as 10 years old.
  • Families in bonded labor experience dishonest debt practices, with owners unjustly
inflating debt amounts to maintain control.
  • Violence towards workers is a constant threat.
  • Children are forced into labor and are often unable to attend school, trapping entire
families in a cycle of poverty and servitude.
We empower families by settling their debts and providing a comprehensive rehabilitation
program, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to break free from the brick
    kilns permanently.
Our work is committed to breaking this cycle, advocating for justice, and fighting for the rights of
vulnerable individuals to live free from abuse, violence, and exploitation.
